Authorship and conflicts of interest

Responsible authorship, contributorship and disclosure of conflicts of interest.

Authorship

Only persons who made a genuine intellectual contribution to the work and can take responsibility for its content should be listed as authors. Contributions that do not justify authorship should be acknowledged where appropriate.

Ghost, guest and honorary authorship are not acceptable.

Changes in authorship

Changing the order of authors, adding an author or removing an author after submission requires justification and confirmation by the persons concerned. After publication, such a change should leave a transparent trace in the publication record.

Conflicts of interest

Authors, reviewers and editors should disclose financial, professional, personal or institutional relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing their assessment or the content of the publication. The existence of a conflict does not automatically imply rejection; transparency and appropriate management are essential.
