W realia pogranicza kulturowego, jakim był przedwojenny Białystok, było wpisane
funkcjonowanie szkoły. W szkole, podobnie jak w domu rodzinnym, przebiegał często w
sposób spontaniczny proces socjalizacji międzykulturowej. Wszystkie opisane instytucje
starały się zwracać szczególną uwagę na potrzeby i realia lokalnego wielokulturowego
środowiska; potrafiły konsekwentnie wprowadzać swoich wychowanków w świat wartości
opartych na współpracy, ofiarności i odpowiedzialności. Skutkiem przyjęcia i propagowania
takiej postawy przez kadrę pedagogów był sposób postrzegania, jakość i sposób rozumienia
ludzi przez uczniów różniących się pochodzeniem kulturowym i religijnym.

Abstract (EN)
Zmienic The functioning of school was inscribed in the realities of the cultural border
line that was the pre-war Białystok. At school, just as at family home, very often a
spontaneous process of intercultural socialization occurred. All of the mentioned institutions
strived to pay special attention to the needs and realities of the local multicultural
environment; they managed to consistently introduce their pupils into the world of values
founded on cooperation, generosity and responsibility. The result of adopting and promoting
such attitude by the educators was the way of perception, the quality and the way of
understanding people by the students differing in their cultural and religious background.
