Przedmiotem prezentowanych badań była analiza osobowościowych I
socjodemograficznych uwarunkowań typów uzależnienia od Internetu. Pomimo, że wielu
badaczy nie uznaje nadmiernego korzystania z Internetu za uzależnienie, to jednak wszyscy
zgodni są co do tego, że problem ten w ostatnich latach rozprzestrzenił się na szeroką skalę.
Użytkowanie Internetu nie jest jednak czynnością jednorodną, stąd w zależności od
preferowanych aktywności wyróżnia się typy problemów internetowych: erotomanię
internetową, socjomanię internetową, przeciążenie informacyjne, uzależnienie od gier
sieciowych, hazard sieciowy. Istnieją one realnie również wśród studentów. Przebadano 107
studentów Uniwersytetu Śląskiego oraz Politechniki Śląskiej. Wyniki wskazują na istotne
związki pomiędzy płcią, typem uczelni oraz cechami osobowości – zwłaszcza
neurotyczności, ugodowości i sumienności, a poziomem poszczególnych typów uzależnienia
od Internetu.

Abstract (EN)
The objective of this study was to analyze personality and sociodemografic
determinants of types of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD). Despite the fact that many
researchers do not accept Internet overuse as addiction, they all agree that IAD phenomenon
has widely spread over recent years. However, the use of the Internet is not a homogeneous
activity, and therefore there are different subtypes of this problem according to the preferred
activities: cyber-sexual addiction, cyber-relationship addiction, information overload, online
gaming addiction, online gambling addiction. It is a real problem also among students. For
this study 107 students of Silesian University and Silesian University of Technology were
interrogated. The results suggest that there are significant connections between the sex, the
field of study and personality traits – especially Neuroticism, Agreeableness,
Conscientiousness – and the level of particular types of IAD.
